Description

when Munro died his widow married the Galloway painter W S MacGeorge

many of his oils were on the smaller scale and the majority depicting beautiful women he encountered in the Café Society around Brussels

he was the art critic of the Glasgow Herald

the whole executed with that crisp clarity of application that characterised 1930s romantic painting

This painting was exhibited at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1915

Low Tide, Benholm, 1961 Still Lifes when Munro died his widowOne of the great twentieth century Scottish painters, Alberto was the master of all genres and need no more introduction here. This particular stretch of coast is painted at Benholm in Aberdeenshire. Morrocco clearly enjoyed spending time there as it was a subject he returned to often, Paisley Museum holds a fine example of the same beach viewed from the water. Not as nice as this one though.
